Portabella mushrooms are the fully mature form of the white button mushroom. They are large and dark brown with a rich, firm texture that makes them great for grilling and broiling. Their mild, woodsy flavor compliments steaks, pork chops, poultry, seafood, and grilled vegetables. These mushrooms are extremely versatile! Marinate them in red wine, garlic, and herbs or stuff them with sausage. To reconstitute, cover desired amount of mushrooms with boiling water and let soak 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally. The water used for soaking becomes very rich in flavor and can be added to recipes. 1 oz of dried mushrooms will reconstitute to about 3-4 oz.
