Basil, or Sweet Basil, is the dried leaves of the herb Ocimum basilicum. It is generally grown in Egypt and France. The grayish-green leaves have a sweet, tea-like minty flavor and aroma. It is perfect for pesto, tomato dishes, salads, soups, and pizza.
