Our Story

Leighty's Farm Market, Inc. has been one of the area's best known landmarks for over one-hundred years. Learn about the history of our store below.

Where you can come back to the farm...

Founded by Lloyd and Harv Leighty (Lee-tee or Leek-tee, with the k being almost silent) in Newry, Pennsylvania in the early 1900s, the market grew to it’s present size around 1960, when Lloyd’s son, Don, took over the market after returning from military service. He immediately started expanding the produce business, growing it in stages, plus adding a giant greenhouse to sell bedding plants in 1976. The old adage of 'treat the customer the way you want to be treated' and 'stock nothing but the freshest product always with an eye on quality' has paid off. The market has thrived through the decades and added many product lines over the years. In 1993 Don’s daughter, Donna and her husband, Brian, took the market over and have continued in the tradition of stressing quality.

The large complex has so much to offer in the way of diversity. Along with fresh produce, the store sports a gigantic Flower World, April through June, and Halloween decorations in autumn as well as a variety of locally-produced goods, groceries and non-food items.

Candy World offers tons of candy and specialty sodas that will satisfy in any season.

Adding to the uniqueness, the store also features several leased departments, including Mark's Computers, Leighty's Flooring by Knisley, and Snyder Photography. So if you want a great way to spend an afternoon, plan on coming back to the farm and let us be your host.

Across the street you can find these other businesses owned by family and friends... Leighty's Boot Warehouse, a shop filled with plenty of clothing and footwear. On Sundays, visit the hundreds of vendors at Leighty's Outdoor Flea Market, filled with a variety of goods throughout late spring, summer and fall. If you want to practice your golf swing, visit Golf World by Knisely, located next door.

Order Details
We aim to process your order as quickly as possible.

  • Physical orders may take approximately 1-3 days to be processed before being shipped. We will contact you if we anticipate a delay with your order.
  • You are welcome to call the store to check on quantities available, particularly if an item is listed as out of stock or you would like a larger quantity than is currently available. We manage everything manually and take products straight from the shelf. The quantities listed may not reflect what is in store and may be more (or occasionally less) than what is on the shelf.
  • Digital book orders should be processes immediately upon payment.

Delivery time will vary depending on method and may be affected by the weather or other factors (such as demand during the holidays). Please review your cart for an estimate. Our store is set up to automatically send you a notification when an order is placed and again when an order is shipped. Please watch for tracking information that will provide updates on the location of your product(s).

In-Store Pickup
Select this option if you want to visit our physical location in Newry, PA to pick up your items at no additional cost. We generally process orders on weekdays, so orders that are placed on weekends may not be prepared as quickly. Orders are generally ready for pickup in a day or two. Once your order is prepared, you will receive a notification with instructions on how to proceed.

Product Variation
Please note that product labels may come in different designs from those shown. Some items, such as our wooden crates, are handcrafted and each will have its own unique texture and coloration.
